Seasonal country house charm
Poinsettias create a natural homely ambience
Wintry weather, short days and long dark nights – who would not prefer to snuggle up at home during this frosty season?
Especially during the winter months when we all appreciate a warm and welcoming ambience around the house and looking forward to unwinding, letting go and relaxing, particularly in that stressful time coming up to Christmas.
It is not surprising that the country house style has gained so much popularity. English, Scottish or Irish cottage, French chalet style, vintage charm, shabby-chic or used-look – the country house trend comes in many guises. Natural materials and colours, wood, comfortable furniture and pretty accessories are all part of the ambience, however what is very important, especially during the dark winter months, is a combination of ambient light and decorative plants to create a cosy atmosphere. The most favoured seasonal plant is the poinsettia. Its authentic natural charm is simply made for decorating your home country house style.
Decorations with poinsettias – and spring can wait!
Around 100 years ago the poinsettia reached Europe from its native soil in Mexico. Ever since then this potted plant brings colour into our wintry homes. The most distinctive features are the leaves, which grow into a star-shaped crown and the vivid colour display in shades of red, light red, salmon pink, pink, yellow or creamy white. Recently cultivated varieties even have zigzag edges, dappled or crimped leaves. Poinsettias are available in many different sizes:
You may decide to decorate your table with the adorable mini variety or set a highlight in your room with a lusciously thick bush of a poinsettia. In combination with several other plants, you may create a pleasantly potted symphony or display them single in their high-stemmed variety as a prominent feature.
Poinsettias can be effortlessly decorated with natural materials and accessories. They appeal to our senses, bringing a touch of colour, warmth and comfort into the house, simply making us feel at home during those cold and dark winter months.
